Strong Like a Mother: Movement for Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum

The changes your body goes through during pregnancy, labour and delivery are profound. In this workshop we’ll discuss these changes and talk about what’s normal and what’s not during pregnancy and the postpartum period. We’ll also help you to prepare your body to birth in the most gentle, effective and physiological way possible.

We’ll begin with a one hour Pilates-based movement class to stretch, release and strengthen.

We’ll then gather as a group to talk about common injuries related to the birthing year, and how to prevent them by easily adapting everyday movements or modifying your usual exercise routine. We’ll discuss signs and symptoms to look out for that may be a cause for concern and when and why to seek the support of a practitioner. We’ll also discuss postpartum healing, safe return to exercise and the pelvic floor.

This is a workshop for women who want to be proactive in caring for their pregnant and birthing body. Educational, practical and empowering, it will help you care for your body through the immense changes brought about by pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.
